Application Process

TCPS seeks to enroll students who are prepared to be successful academically and contribute positively to the TCPS community as a whole. TCPS admits qualified students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.

Each student who applies to TCPS receives a thorough evaluation by the Admissions Committee. The Admissions Office is committed to helping families by providing assistance during each step of the admissions process, offering quick responses to your questions and online applications.

Application Form

Complete the paper application (see link on the right) and return to the office or complete an online application. Each student enrolling must have an Application Form in his or her file. Applications are approved and students accepted in the order in which they are received depending on available space as well as other exceptions. Therefore, promptness in completing the Application Form is important. Along with the application form, each student must submit a copy of his/her official birth certificate and social security card.

Administrator Interview

Upon receiving your application and the availability of space, the office will arrange your interview with a school administrator. Former school records, immunization and health records, and current test results should be brought if available at this time. Student and parent should attend this interview unless otherwise specified.

Health Records

Immunization and health records must be submitted to the school office before the student is officially registered. Your doctor has the necessary form required by the Department of Health of the State of Tennessee. This form must be the original and must be signed by the student’s physician.

Screening

All students applying to Tennessee Christian Preparatory School must complete a grade appropriate screening. Parents must set up a time with the principal for this part of the application process. Afterward, an interview will be held between the parents and the principal to discuss the student’s strengths and weaknesses.

Acceptance Committee

Once a completed application is on file with the office, the Acceptance Committee will meet to discuss eligibility for the student who is being considered for entrance into the academy. Parents will be informed in writing of a student’s acceptance or non-acceptance.

Enrollment/Tuition Payment

When a student has received an acceptance letter, enrollment fee must be paid in order to secure that student’s spot. The enrollment and tuition schedule for the current year is provided in the application packet. Please examine this document carefully.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Tennessee Christian Preparatory School does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin in administration of educational policies, admission policies, tuition assistance, or athletic or other administered programs.

Admission of Special Needs Students

Tennessee Christian Preparatory School promotes a model of inclusion for children with mild disabilities in our school. We believe that children with mild disabilities can be successful within the classroom setting when strategic teaching methods are utilized and appropriate accommodations are implemented. Unlike the public school system, private schools do not receive state and federal monies to fund special education programs.

Tuition Assistance

The diversity of the student population is a value actively promoted at TCPS. Educational costs are funded principally by tuition and we recognize the commitment and sacrifice that families make to finance tuition. In recognition of this, the TCPS Board of Directors has created a variety of ways in which parents can pay the tuition for their children. Financial aid may be awarded to qualifying families who have children in grades K-12. The amount of money available for the financial assistance programs is stipulated each year by the Board of Directors and distributed by the Tuition Assistance Committee.

Families wishing to apply for financial aid must do so by contacting the Admissions Office for the necessary procedures and forms. A signed copy of Tax Form 1040 is required.
