TCPS Upper School students share the joy of giving by volunteering at the local Salvation Army distribution center for Angel Tree Ministry. Students and faculty members worked in the rain and mud to distribute Christmas gifts, turkeys, and Bibles to over 700 families. It truly is better to give than to receive!
Upper school students worked to help a local tornado victim pick up the pieces and put his home back together again. Junior Haley Garcia filmed the video, and Sophomore Joshua Bates compiled the video. We are so proud of our upper school students and their spirit of service!
On Tuesday, November 8, 10 Tennessee Christian Preparatory School fourth through seventh graders put their math skills to the test during a Math Fest held at McMinn County High School.
TCPS’s fourth grade team won first place, and a number of TCPS students won individual awards.

As a part of helping our community and teaching our children how joyful it is to give, TCPS is hosting a barrel for A Refuge Community Christmas. Our goal is to fill this barrel with new toys for boys and girls, ages 1 to 16 years, as many times as we can before Wednesday, December 14.
Boxes are available in the main Preschool building and the Lower School building, so bring new toys to drop in the box and help make someone else’s Christmas memorable!
A Refuge Community Christmas is an event hosted by the Refuge Community Centre that provides Christmas for hundreds of families in Cleveland and Bradley County. This Christmas event is a little different than others, as the Refuge creates it as a shopping day for the parents. Parents come in and drop their children off in a room filled with kid-friendly activities. The parents then make their way to the shopping area to pick out two brand-new toys for each child. They also get these toys wrapped and tagged as being from Mom and Dad to the child before leaving.
On Sunday, Nov. 6 from 4–7 p.m. Lee University senior history majors will lead tours through the historic Fort Hill Cemetery.
The annual “lantern” tours provide an opportunity to experience community history in an exciting and engaging way. Led by students and local actors and actresses costumed in 19th century garb, tours honor the lives of historic persons of Cleveland as actors recount the lives of the deceased in first person description. For those wanting to finish the tour before dark, be sure to come before 5 p.m.
This year’s historical characters include Thomas H. and Susan Jane Lea Callaway, Dr. P.J.R. and Sarah Edwards , John N. and Mary Cowan, Judge Levi and Harriot Trewhitt, Sidney B. Wise, James S. Bradford, William and Ann Cate, Samuel and Catherine Hunt, Dr. John Guthrie Brown, and Capt. William and Abigail Henderson Grant.
The event is sponsored by Lee University’s Department of History and Political Science, the Bradley County Historical and Genealogical Society and Cleveland State Community College’s history faculty.
The cost of the tour is $5 per person ($2 for students with ID). Parking and shuttle will be provided at the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland. Proceeds will go to the William Snell Scholarship Fund at Lee University.
For more information, contact Dr. Randy Wood, chair of the Department of History and Political Science, at rwood@leeuniversity.edu or 423-614-8137.
Note: TCPS Upper School history teacher Brad Davis is offering extra credit to any of his students who attend!
