In 1997 a group of parents committed to Christian education founded the Tennessee Christian Academy in Cleveland, Tennessee. With continued growth and support through our first decade, Dr. Bill Balzano took the lead as headmaster in 2007. Under Dr. Balzano’s leadership, TCA’s strategic plan expanded to provide not only a Christ-centered education to the families in our surrounding area, but to also do it with academic excellence. The school’s name was changed in 2008 to reflect this new commitment to a college preparatory education from a Christian worldview – Tennessee Christian Preparatory School.
Dr. Balzano retired as headmaster in late 2017 and our interim head of school is Mr. Jim Callis, a native of Franklin, TN, who has a rich history of building and growing schools. With more than 28 years leading private Christian schools, Mr. Callis lends valuable expertise as we transition to our permanent campus across from First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
TCPS is accredited under guidelines approved by the Tennessee Department of Education. TCPS is also AdvanceEd certified (formerly SACS) demonstrating our commitment to providing a quality, college preparatory education.
Tennessee Christian Preparatory School is an interdenominational, co-educational day school. We are led by an elected Board of Trustees and accept students from preschool through twelfth grade. TCPS is a qualified 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
